Amena Hajjar, a Bay Area native with a lifelong passion for fostering strong communities, brings a unique blend of creative vision and collaborative spirit to her work. Her background as a trained architectural designer, honed through designing custom homes throughout Northern California, instilled in her a deep understanding of spatial planning and the power of thoughtful design to enhance human experience. This understanding and belief brought her to Mesa Refuge, where she witnesses – space and place bringing rise to creativity.

Driven by a desire to extend beyond designing spaces for individuals, Amena shifted her focus to building community and connection. Transitioning to the non-profit sector in West Marin, she contributed across diverse causes in strengthening organizations’ communications and development. Amena joined non-profit teams working to increase funding for elementary schools and senior services in rural areas, and for environmental education as their development director. Recently, she joined Gallery Route One in Point Reyes Station.

An artist herself, she is dedicated to supporting organizations that use creativity to amplify voices that challenge our thinking and open dialogues. With its breathtaking landscapes and vibrant community, West Marin provides the perfect backdrop for Amena’s holistic approach to life.
